From the Curandero’s garden.  Red rose petals are used to make scented water for spiritual cleansing and used in healing baths.  Other color roses are used depending on the purpose of the treatment.

Everyone talks about their darkness or shadow self. Darkness is absence of light nothing more neither stronger or harder to deal with than enlightenment. It’s the power and attention we  that we give the darkness that makes things bigger than they are in reality. Another common herb used by curanderos is Rosemary. It is primarily used to clear the mind and bring back clarity in a limpia. As you can see it grows freely and abundantly at Casa Del Curandero.

What is a nightmare? It is no different than a dream, but the power of the content can induce feelings we are not comfortable with or able to deal with easily.  Some cultures and religions, such as the Native American Lakota tribe, rely on dreams and nightmares to point them in the right direction when an important decision needs to be made.  Dreams are believed to prepare the emotions for things to come when change is upon us.  An intense dream or nightmare is considered a transitional dream.  It’s a way of getting a message or warning about something we need to look out for or be aware of in your surroundings.  Nightmares act as the brain’s way of focusing a person’s attention on issues they need to address.  Keeping a dream journal and writing each morning as soon as you awaken, is a great way to record your minds unconscious secrets and learning from them.   What are your dreams telling you? ___________________________________________________________________________________________

Another plant that Curandero’s need ready access to is White Sage. The leaves are dried and burned in ritual to cleanse and bless a space of negative energy. This is one of the sage plants grown here at Casa Del Curandero.

Practicing Curanderismo often requires access to fresh herbs and medicinal plants. At Casa Del Curandero we grow many of these plants ourselves. Here is a picture of our Rue plant, which is traditionally used during a limpia (a spiritual cleanseing).
